Oh, So Now I'm A Theatre/Restaurant Critic, Huh?

Ok, sorry for the abscence of late. Been a bit busy, but I'm off work for a few days, so I should have more time to post this week.

Firstly: You will have noticed that the world did not, in fact, end on 06.06.06 (or, as the Americans would have it - 06.06.06). This could be due to the fact that there has been an 06.06.06 since the year 0006 A.D. In Fact, there's been one every hundred years since! The past 06.06.06 was the 21st, so get over it. Give me a break. When I do decide to destroy your mortal world, I won't do it on a day you're expecting it.

Secondly, and most importantly: I got to see the inestemable Pablo Zubieta on stage at the Empire Hotel in Kings Cross, performing as William the bartender in Shakespeare's As You Like It (and yes, I think everyone involved is aware that there was no bartender in As You Like It, but it turned out no-one liked it that way). The entire production was great, especially the cast, but Pablo was terrific. He took what was, essentially a minor part and made it his own. He was funny, he was bearded, he was Irish, what more could you want? And who knew he could dance? I do apologise to the cast and audience, that short bark of barely supressed laughter when Pablo called another character a "dirty focker" was me. I'm pretty sure he swore more than any other character. As you would expect.

And thirdly: Those of you who know me well would have realised that it was my birthday on Saturday. No. I don't care either, really.

I don't recommend Temasek Singapore/Malaysian restaurant in Parramatta, which is where we went for my birthday dinner. While the food was good (not great), the service was poor and the atmosphere...well, let's just say that when we arrived, we were treated almost like unwelcome guests and seated in the 'overflow' dining room, a sparcely decorated, overlit room with a door that would not remain closed. We had a booking and all.
